Would you let the kids read the Bible?

And then they finding this:

Ezekiel 23:20
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

http://biblehub.com/ezekiel/23-20.htm

***

I'd be so embarrassed that I'd toss the Bible in the fire, after telling them the Holy Book is bad porno. I'd say that donkeys and horses' genitals are not to be lusted after. I'd tell them adults go to porno shops but never find such bizarre stuff. I'd tell them the Bible is weird.

This is NO commandment...
It just reminds you the disposition of man heart for wickedness and the need for a constant purification of our thought, donkey ass.
Sorry, this is the product of a bizarre, twisted brain. I don't think many women fantasize about a donkeys' big stick. I may be wrong but maybe 1 in a 1000 do. It doesn't justify the passage because this is weird.

Not many porno videos with such bizarre theme.

I don't know how WTM came to read such material. I believe the New Testament would be more uplifting. It does seem to me that WTM could do with a bit of uplifting, so I recommend that he should lock his Holy Bible up in a cabinet and limit his reading to the New Testament.

Remember, the Old Testament is still part of the required reading. I'd put a warning on both bibles. "Warning: Not for kids, impressionable people or crazy people."

Mind you, the Book or Revelations is terrible, particularly for crazy people. I know a crazy lady who's constantly quoting from it.

The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám has always been, and will forever be, my favorite spiritual guide. My advice to you, estimable sir, is to commit it to memory for your pleasure, and be prepared to quote relevant passages to any crazy ladies you should have the misfortune to encounter.

...and then they'd find this weird crap and ask you all sorts of
"The next day the older daughter said to the younger, "Last night I
slept with my father. Let's get him to drink wine again tonight, and
you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line
through our father." So they got their father to drink wine that
night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again
he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up."
...THe Bible...it's really just a very, very nasty book of Fairy
Tales for adults...definitely not suited for children.
There are children's versions of the Bible available. I'd let the kids
read it along with mythology books and fairy tales. Kids are smart
enough to figure it out. And, when they're old enough (18) to read the
whole Bible, they'll know enough to see how horrible it really is.
Well, it depends. It doesn't work so well when the kids are "coached" by their parents. They tend to become hypocrites until a much older age when they can afford to rebel.

This crazy lady wants to know more about Jesus and drones.

You know, the drones are spying on her. ;)

My opinion--in the comparative religion class kids should take as long
as religion is still important in the world so they know how to deal
with the nutjobs of their own and everyone else's religions, they'll be
exposed to the horrors as decided to be most age-appropriate manner.
Seniors Honors Literature Class: All the juiciest stuff.
Again, they should read Mein Kampf as well to get ready for the justification for genocide.

I haven't gotten around to reading Mein Kampf yet, but perhaps I should leave a copy lying on the coffee table as a reminder. I'll bet it would make a good reader for a German class in some university.

Just like reading the Bible, I guess. Hitler was obsessed with discipline and control. Like the Bible, the people failed Hitler, not the other way around. God blames humanity for their own downfall.

..heh, heh...I was just reading one othe "Children's" versions. In the
"And everything that breathed on the earth died.
What terrible things happen when people sin."
Even in a children's version, they can't hide the fact that their
suppossed god murdered humans and animals without discretion. The kids
are probably wondering why all the innocent children little kittens
were drowned.
Hitler was never that cruel since he loved his dog. I wonder if kids should read Mein Kampf as well.
...unfortuneately, he didn't give rat's ass about anyone. He was a
total psychopath. Before taking a cyanide capsule, Hitler tested the
poison on his dog. I'd say that was pretty cruel.
I think kids should be able to read whatever they want...but any
religious material should have a WARNING sticker on it denoting
that the existence of supernatural beings is totally fictional and
that the material is comprised essentially of fairy tales for adults
with the possibility of a few ambiguous historical references.
Perhaps Hitler was no better, no worse than God. God struck at the whole of humanity and the animals for Adam & Eve's rebellion. If you can call rebellion the simple act of eating a fruit that arbitrarily was forbidden.

And the Bible's followers look forward to Armageddon, another name for holocaust. It will be a thousand times worse than WWII, all in the name of saving a small number of hardcore followers. Then he will deliver eternal happiness. Amen.

The obvious difference is that the God (and other gods) was a fictional
entity created by a by conmen priests trying to control the general
populace. Whereas Hitler was a real-life conman trying to control the
general populace.
God has controlled more people than Hitler, even if he doesn't exist. His
propaganda machine is more successful than Hitler's.
That's because Hitler was just one single conman (with a few
underlings), while the church is a large group of conmen priests (each
with their own underlings). The church is also a much older pile of
greedy idiocy.
Well, I think Hitler was not a conman the way many priests and modern politicians are. He believed in German superiority and thought the Jews were standing on his path.

Like God he had great plans for humanity. ;)

One more amazing parallel between God and Hitler, and the cause of Hitler's Utopia falling a apart, was his omnipotence. This led to an all out war against evil (which he saw in Bolshevism and predatory capitalism) and lost.

This led, as we all know, to German humiliation. Only Russia is proud now, and I hope Putin doesn't play god as well.

I think Putin is more like Lenin and Stalin.
They both played god, but not crazy god.

Hitler was like God in the Old Testament. He launched war against ALL TRIBES that opposed his chosen people.

I took to reading Hitler lately, just because i wanted to see all the Bible verses, references to the Lord Jesus, and how he prays and seeks guidance and quickly realized that this portrayal as some sort of Christian by atheists was not the case.
aside from that God has sent us to save people and Hitler just wanted to get rid of them all because they were not like him, or as he thought he was.
'Hitler not only believed in Jesus (which alone made him a Christian) but his work against the Jews came straight from Christian theological reasoning just as had many Christian saints of the past. His Christian expressions of "Lord God," "Living Christ," and "Lord and Savior" indicates his acknowledgement of Jesus as God and his acceptance of a resurrected Christ (for what else can "Living" and "Savior" mean except from a resurrected state?). Hitler also believed in the supernatural concept of life after death. In Mein Kampf he wrote, "a religion in the Aryan sense cannot be imagined which lacks the conviction of survival after death in some form."'

http://www.nobeliefs.com/hitlerchristian.htm

I'd argue that he believed himself God. And once you are God, you can do whatever you want because... just because you are God.

God did many things comparable to the Holocaust...
