I've been having lower molar pains several times a year for many years only
seemingly curable with antibiotics. I'd like to get them pulled, remove my
front permanent bridge, and get a full lower denture. However, the dentist
insists I will HATE one. Anyone here have one or know of one? My parents
never complained about theirs and had them since their 20s.

Comments? I've had a full upper denture for well over a decade and don't
mind it. I use it without adhesive. I'm 78.

If you'd rather not post about it here email me at ken dot knecht at gmail
dot com please.

TIA

You don't like your dentist's opinion so you'll shop around ??

Sure. Dentists aren't infallible. Another opinion never hurt. If he's
right others will agree with him. No harm done.

Aah, you don't want an honest dentist, you want one who just sells
dentures. :)

I've had a full upper denture since I was 21 and a full lower since I was
31. I have never regretted having those teeth pulled and have no trouble
with either denture. I am 76.

At just one sore spot the dentist yesterday found a tooth that needed a
root canal, another that needed a crown and a third that needed a
filling. That would run about $1750 - 2000 or so plus all the other
unxrayed unexamined teeth's possible needs. Had to have the root canal
rather that pull it as that canine anchors one end of a front four-tooth
permanent bridge. We (I mostly) decided to pull all the lowers (nine) and
fit a denture. $1360. Took an impression for the denture yesterday -
probably in China. Likely pull them in two sessions next week. Goodbye
frequent toothaches - I hope. I also hope I and the new denture get
along. I've had the upper denture for decades and we mostly get along
fine.

Thanks for your input to my decision.
