Do you think God is proud of us?

I don't know but it sounds like we are doing no better than a bunch of monkeys bent on controlling their environment and fighting the enemy troops with all they got. God would be dismayed, embarrassed and utterly mad at the human species that he created.

But, of course, it's the Devil that he also created that it's stirring all the trouble. Then is there any particular reason for God to be proud of something?

Well, it's the job of the philosopher to question everything.

Hmmm ... you must have watched the same
overly-anthropomorphized documentary on
Sri-Lankian macaques as I dd last night .....
And yes, a microcosm of human individual and
social behavior ... the family resemblance is
unmistakable. :-)
But is such behavior "bad" - or merely "''primate" ?
Why deny our nature ? Should a bee seek to be
a moth ? A butterfly seek to be beetle ? A tuna
seek to be a sandwich ???
And humans behaving like sheep? I've seen that comparison before. But is it desirable behavior?

I think we are who we are but we can do better, much better. We just got to walk to the mirror and say, "Hey monkey, time to be happy with peanuts."

On the other hand, we are driven to be gorillas when we drive big SUVs and destroy the environment.

I think it's time for grooming.

Different places, different methods:

"American Legion posts harassed Witnesses nationwide. At Klamath Falls, Oregon, members of the American Legion harassed Witnesses assembled for worship with requests to salute the flag and buy war bonds. They then attacked the Witnesses and besieged the meeting place, breaking windows, throwing in stink bombs, ammonia and burning kerosene rags. The Witnesses' cars were disabled and many were overturned. The governor was compelled to call the state militia to disperse the mob, which reached 1,000 at its peak.[11] In Texas, Witness missionaries were chased and beaten by vigilantes, and their literature was confiscated or burned."

And God is probably not proud of it either. Funny, Jehovah's Witness do not participate in wars but still are largely indifferent to it. Quite convenient to those who profit from war. And that's not a very moral stand. Just good in the eyes of God perhaps, but not among the smart philosophers.

Well, it's the job of the philosopher to question everything.
...a god would have known ahead of time the humans would be a problem
and never created them in the first place. We're here because of an
asteriod strike that essentially reset the evolution of life on earth.
Just blind luck. And, eventually, that's the way we'll exit. Let's
hope the next race of creatures is free of religious infestation.
We just need another animal that's smart enough to think, but stupid enough to believe in creation.

Nature's experiment with intelligence hasn't worked because the brain hasn't been used in creative ways. Well, it has but only among the super brains of scientists and free thinkers. The educated elites though want the masses to be ignorant so they are easily manipulated into patterns of consumption and voting. Depressing, totally depressing.

Is that an epitaph for humanity? If there was a God ever he committed suicide.

SUVs came, SUVs will go. Short-term stuff. However
However this generation is fat and dumb, and that will not go away with the SUV. We need a revolution where FRUGALITY IS A WAY OF LIFE.
the "inner man", or "inner primate", remains long-term.
He has certain predictable habits and hot-buttons.
"Leaders" excel at pushing those buttons ... generally
for what most everybody can agree on as being
for "the worst".
I happen to thoroughly agree with the last statement. So our leaders are responsible in not leading the mundane monkeys in the right way. It's so funny, our alpha leaders are just a bunch of manipulating monkeys predictably using their power in all the wrong ways. The only hope is the common monkeys and they don't have much power besides riding a bike or becoming bipedal once again.
I just want to add to the above comment that

"THE LAST THING A MAN CAN AFFORD TO LOSE IS HIS BIPEDALISM."

It made us human and it'll keep us going longer than any easy way to get around. Yes, it prevents IMPOTENCE too!

"Daily 2-Mile Walk May Prevent Impotence"

So now you know why obesity and laziness may be OK in church, but not for the Wise Man. "USE IT OR LOSE IT!" Our past as hunter-gatherers is the key.

I think nature's "experiment" was a lot less ambitious than you assume. Evolution doesn't hand out a lot of excessive intelligence. Intelligent creatures need to learn, mostly by trial and error, and error is often fatal.
In a stable environment it's better for evolution to solve the problems and prewire the solutions as "instinct".
Intelligence, I think, tends to arise during periods of instability where evolutionary changes in instinct can't keep up.
For your "super brains" to even survive requires a level of social complexity unachievable without destructive exploitation.
Hey, hey, there's America and there's Germany. The smarter system applies the smarter brains without destroying the environment. East Germany was stupid in burning coal and we are stupid going around in SUVs.

The super brains better be applied to creating solar systems and efficiency that can make a society sustainable. I think Germany and Japan with high population densities are close to being sustainable. Of course, they burn oil and coal, but not as much as America and China.

And the Wise Man should always be able to walk and ride a bicycle in safe communities. We could make systems much smarter than the Christians. Oh, I don't want to forget, the Wise Man always listens to science and would admit the evidence for Climate Change.
